Color_PurpleThe Color Purple is an inspiring family saga that tells the unforgettable story of a woman who – through love – finds the strength to triumph over adversity and discover her unique voice in the world.

Set to a joyous score featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel, and blues, The Color Purple is a story of hope, a testament to the healing power of love and a celebration of life.

The sold-out event, with over 1900 guests, was held on December 8th, 2007 in San Francisco’s Orpheum Theater with the pre-show reception hosted in Civic Center Plaza where a thematically-decorated tent transported guests to “the Juke Joint”. Special appearances by members of the cast and music by Bobbie Webb and the Smooth Blues band prepared all for the evening’s uplifting show.

Top sponsors included title sponsor, Aetos Capital, Gayla and Kevin Compton, George Roberts, Stacey Case, Warren Hellman, Eddie DeBartolo, Ellis Short, Bruce Dunlevie, Wes Edens, Stacey and Tom Siebel, and the Shorenstein Family.

The event proceeds benefited UCSF’s Brain Tumor Program.
